Welcome to Year 5 and 6!

 

In Year 5 and 6 at Wirksworth Junior School, we have 2 classes:

Coelho - Mrs Meehan

Underwood - Mrs Taylor

This half-term, our class reading for pleasure book is...

The book we will be reading, discussing and analysing in our shared reading lessons in the Summer Term is...

 

In the Summer Term, our curriculum theme is Creativity and Imagination. The main subjects we will be focusing on during our project are Art and Music. Throughout our project, we will explore concepts such as influence, diversity, achievement and community. In Art, we will be learning about diverse artists such as Beatriz Milhazes, Romero Britto, Gaudi and Banksy; we will be practising a range of techniques such as cubism; and will create sculptures and stencil designs. In Music, we will learn about musicians such as Sam Cooke and Bob Dylan and how their music inspired change. We will also compose and perform our own blues song. Things to remember...

Reading diaries will be checked on a Monday. Read 5 times each week to receive your Dojo points and reading chart stamp.

Maths homework will be sent out each Friday and is to be completed by the following Thursday.

Spelling and handwriting homework will be sent out each Friday and is to be completed by the following Thursday.

PE days this term:

Tuesdays (Underwood), Wednesdays (both classes) and Fridays (Coelho).
