Modern British Values
UK Parliament Week was held in November 2020 and gave children and parents the opportunity to debate via our Class Dojo pages on issues such as:
- Should supermarkets ban plastic bags?
- Should you helmets be made legal whilst cycling?
These and other questions were put to the school community so we could learn how to hold a healthy debate and understand what it was like to work in Parliament.
The Polling Station was opened early at Wirksworth Junior School on Thursday 12th December 2019. The Labour Party won, with the Green Party a very close second. Lots of very excited children, with a very good turnout of voters. Will the General Election 2019 bring the same result?
Individual Liberty and Mutual Respect and Tolerance of Others.
The whole school made visits to the Open Centre at Derby in 2019 to learn about different faiths, individual liberty and the mutual respect for others. Visits were made to the Mosque, Mandir and Gurdwara, and children learnt how these faiths were similar in some ways and how they differed in others. All the children showed lots of respect for the one another and learnt lots about the different religions within our community in Derbyshire.
