Welcome to the Wirksworth Junior School PTFA
At WJS we have a wonderful Parent Teacher and Friends Association, which supports the school through a variety of events which we organise across the year. These include fundraising events such as cake sales, school discos and fayres.
What is the money used for?
The money we raise goes towards the ‘extras’ that the school cannot fund from its main budget. Last year, we provided 17 new laptops, we subsidised the year 6 sailing trips and purchased a PA system. We also provided support for smaller items such as a visit from the ice cream van!
How often are meetings?
Meetings are arranged as and when needed, usually around 3 or 4 a year. These are held in school during the daytime or at a local pub in the evening.
Who is on the PTFA?
Joint Chairperson Laura Flitter
Secretary Michelle Matkin
Treasurer Caroline White
We have members who attend the meetings, to plan events and agree how to spend the money we have raised. We are also very lucky to have a team of volunteers who are willing to help out at events. We are always on the lookout for more.
How can I help?
Come along and say hello! We are a friendly bunch and it’s a great way to meet new people and get involved with the school. There is no commitment and you can put in as much or as little as you like. All help is gratefully received. There are lots of ways you can help if you don’t fancy coming along to meetings. Does your employer offer match funding for charitable donations raised by employees? Could you take part in a sponsored event on behalf of the school? Can you help at an event, send in donations or raffle prizes? Are you able to simply attend our events to support the PTFA?
If you would like to get involved, help out at events or share your fundraising ideas with us, please contact us via the school office. We look forward to seeing you soon.
