Mrs Helen Brocklehurst (Co-opted Governor)
I have worked for many years as an engineer, often the only woman in the room, so I am very keen to break down barriers and help all children to see any career as open to them, regardless of stereotypes. I have a particular interest in science and maths and am keen to promote a broader understanding of these subjects and show that all can gain from an understanding of the world around them. As well as teaching academic topics it is also important to teach broader skills such as resilience to our children, so they learn to see there’s no such thing as a silly question and that problems can be overcome though application and support from those around them.
