Carols round the Christmas Tree
Tue 20 Dec 2022It was wonderful to see so many parents join us for carols round our outside Christmas tree, which was a very special event. The weather remained dry, despite the clouds forming overhead, and around the small five-foot Christmas tree, we sang our Christmas Carols old and new. Thank you to all those that attended this event, and like the Christmas tree that is planted in our school grounds, we hope it can grow into something bigger, and be a regular part of our Christmas calendar for years to come.

Wed 14 Dec 2022Congratulations to all our Y3/4 pupils for their fantastic performances of their pantomime Robin Hood yesterday. They had all work tremendously hard rehearsing and it was wonderful to see their confidence as they wowed us with their singing and acting skills.
Thank you to all the parents who came along to support and watch, and for providing all the costumes, and of course a big thank you to Mrs Cooke and Miss Booth for directing, and to Mrs Lofts and Mr Wisner for making all the props. Bravo everyone!

Eccelsbourne Valley Railway Memorial Train
Fri 11 Nov 2022Thank you to everyone who joined us this morning to wave off the Memorial Train at Wirksworth Station on the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway.
The steam train was carrying a remembrance wreath, one of many wreaths from around the county and across the country, that are travelling via the East Midlands Railways, to meet in Derby, for the Remembrance Day service.
The back of the train was decorated with a beautiful poppy wreath made by our Y3 pupils, with the help of Mrs Butler, Mrs Wheal and Mrs Lofts.

Severn Trent Water Assembly
Mon 31 Oct 2022We would like to say a big thankyou to Leanne from Severn Trent Water, who came into school on Friday 21st October to talk to the children about drinking water, and how to reduce plastic waste so it does not get into our water supply.
If your child came home and shared their learning with you, we would be very grateful if you could complete this survey for Severn Trent: https://forms.office.com/r/NNkXppUU9q
Leanne's talk fitted in really well with our assemblies on respecting our environment.
After the holidays, our School Eco Warriors will be sharing our whole school action plans and what we are all planning to do to reduce plastic use at school and at home.

Y5/6 boys play Area Football Finals
Fri 14 Oct 2022Our Y5/6 boys 7-a-side football team did brilliantly to make it to the Area Football finals, which were held at Highfields School in Matlock.
The boys played really well with 3 draws and two clean sheets in their group games against much taller opposition, but were unfortunately knocked out on goal difference. They should be very proud of themselves!
