English - Talk for Writing
We use talk for writing in English to teach writing, using various fiction and non-fiction texts. This process goes through several stages, enabling children to imitate the language they need for a particular topic orally, before reading and analysing it, and then writing their own version.
English - Reading
We use VIPERS in reading lessons and our current book is Tyger by SF Said.
Please use this document when you read with your children at home.
Maths
We use the NCETM for Maths and teach year 4 and 5 separately, so they will be completing different units of work as shown below.
Project - How might we live in the future?
This half term our topic is Geography and D&T.

In Science, our topic is Electricity with the big question 'How has our understanding of electricity changed over time?'
Things to remember...
- Reading diaries will be checked on a Friday. Read 3-5 times each week to receive your Dojo points.
- Maths homework will be sent out each Friday and is to be completed by the following Thursday.
- Spelling homework will be sent out each Friday and is to be completed by the following Thursday.
- PE days will be put on class dojo.
