Open Day 2026

Keep an eye on this page for the date in the Autumn Term when we plan to hold an open morning in school.

The open morning will start at 9:30am, where you can bring your child along to take part in some of the activities and see a range of the activities on offer.

On arrival, please come to the school, where we hope to run a small, guided tour around the school and have refreshments from the school kitchen. We will link a survey to this page in the autumn and ask that you register your interest, so we know how many people to expect and cater to your needs.

Before this event, if you would like to know more information, or you want to get a flavour of junior life, please have a look around our school website, which has lots of information about our school curriculum and how our day is structured.

For some of you, you may like to speak more privately or the time is not convenient for you. Please do call or email the school, where we can arrange a separate tour, speak on the telephone or via video call at a mutually convenient time. Admission Arrangements

Parents have a legal right to express a preference for which school they want their child to attend. This is not the same as being able to choose but means that if a parent expresses a preference for a particular school and there are places available, then a place should be offered at that school.

However, in law, there is no automatic right to place a child in any particular school and it may not always be possible to offer a place at a preferred school. When applying for a school place you must apply through the council covering the area in which you live, which may not be the same as where the school is.

The closing date for Y3 intake to Wirksworth Junior School is January 2027 (date TBC). Please click on the link to apply for a place.
