Bunting Cup 2019
Bunting Cup Tournament 2019
On a gloriously sunny Thursday afternoon at the end of May (27 degrees), Mr Johnson and Mrs Bradbury took two very excited teams to the Bunting Cup.
The Bunting Cup is a long standing football tournament held in Matlock. We have been entering teams from WJS for years, in fact, the last time we actually won it was the year Mrs Bradbury was born – so it has been in existence a long time!
Unfortunately, we didn’t win the tournament, but both teams played with great spirit. The girls were ‘cheer leaders’ between their games really cheering the boys on. The boys weren’t quite cheer leaders, but were equally supportive of the girls. The girl’s team came second in their group, and I am realising that they need a game to get into their stride! The boys just weren’t quite strong enough against some tough competition.
It was a fabulous afternoon overall, with great support from parents and grandparents and I am really excited about the future of girl’s football at WJS! Come on boys, the competition is on next year!
Mr Johnson and Mrs Bradbury are very proud of you all and it’s always a pleasure to accompany you to the many sporting events throughout the year.
