Visions and Values

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do.

They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be confident, happy citizens. At Wirksworth we want to create lasting, happy memories which will nurture your child in becoming a successful and happy individual.

We try to create this ethos through our six core values:

  • Togetherness
  • Fairness
  • Respect
  • Perseverance
  • Aspiration
  • Trust

Together with the British Values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs, these School Values are what we use to develop 'the whole child' through our assemblies and school ethos. Over the four years your child will attend our school, we want to work alongside you to support your child in becoming an independent, confident pupil ready for secondary school.

Creative. Curious. Caring.  We make every moment count.

To prepare children for high school and beyond we have our school motto: "Creative. Curious. Caring.  We make every moment count." We encourage creative talents through music, art and sports, and we use this to develop more links with Wirksworth community by being part of the Wirksworth Arts Festival; performing at the church Christmas events and attending regular sporting events at Anthony Gell school.

Our values help us to be caring, as well as raising money for charities such as Autism Week and Fair Trade, and supporting at Wirksworth Memory Café.

Developing further our curiosity and wonder of the world, we are developing Forest Schools for all pupils, and improving our provision of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) by attending events such as the Rolls Royce STEM day. These are just a few of the activities we are taking part in to create well-rounded members of our school and community.

If you feel you can help develop these areas please come into school and share your ideas and thoughts- no idea is too small. From knitting to building a spaceship, let’s think anything is possible to create the best education we can for the children at Wirksworth Junior School.

Our values and school motto is knitted into our Guerrilla Curriculum. Follow the internal link below to read about this in more detail.
